SFB will host Honor Flight Central Florida, sending Central Florida veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice. For many, it will be their first visit.
WHEN:
  • Honor Flight Central Florida:
    • Departure: Sat., Oct. 17, 2026 – 7:00 a.m.
    • Return: Sat., Oct. 17, 2026 – 10:00 p.m.
WHERE:
Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB)
1200 Red Cleveland Blvd., Sanford, FL
DETAILS:
On Oct. 17, Allegiant Flight #4927 will depart SFB carrying 150 veterans, guardians, and support staff participating in Honor Flight Central Florida, 1 WWII, 18 Korean War, and 41 Vietnam Veterans. Before boarding, the group will be treated to a welcome breakfast airside, hosted by SFB. The return flight, Allegiant Flight #4928, is scheduled to arrive later that night, where veterans will be welcomed home by airport staff and community supporters.
The public is welcome to join us in the terminal lobby (1st floor) to celebrate the veterans, honor their sacrifice and service, and welcome them “home” with signs, flags, and smiles. Signs, flags, and other expressions of gratitude are subject to security screening.
Hosting Honor Flights reflects SFB’s core value of being a great ambassador for the community. From the early-morning send-off to the late-night homecoming, airport staff and partners give their time and resources so that every veteran is met with dignity and gratitude.
“Airports connect people to places, but on days like this, they connect us to moments that matter,” said Nicole Martz, President and CEO. “It is an honor for SFB to be part of this journey, and we hope the community will join us in welcoming these veterans home.”
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
  • Early morning departure visuals (uniformed veterans, guardians, boarding process)
  • Welcome breakfast airside prior to departure (must be notified by 10/15 in order to secure security escort)
  • Welcome-home reception upon return (typically a large turnout, no escort necessary)
  • Potential nterviews available with airport leadership and Honor Flight representatives
