Orlando Welcomes FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Showcases Readiness for 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission (GO Sports), alongside partners at the City of Orlando, Orange County, Inter&Co Stadium, Camping World Stadium, Florida Citrus Sports, and Visit Orlando, yesterday welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Orlando for a visit ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

As a part of a nationwide trophy tour for the tournament, FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Inter&Co Stadium and Camping World Stadium, both venues which will host marquee matches for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. He spoke with media and a delegation of over 100 local leaders, highlighting Orlando’s evolution as a host city and the Greater Orlando region’s growing international profile as a premier sports destination. In addition, GO Sports was honored to be joined by Joanie Schirm, the first president of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission who served as chairman of Orlando’s venue bid and host committee for the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

When asked why Orlando, President Infantino said “It’s a beautiful city. It’s a city that is known all over the world.”

“It’s an honor to be part of the debut of Club World Cup,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “We have a long history with FIFA that Joanie spearheaded, and thanks to the power of collaboration in our community we are now the soccer capital of the southeast. We are able to successfully host these big events because we work together.”

“We are honored to welcome President Infantino to Orlando as we gear up to host this historic tournament,” GO Sports President and CEO Jason Siegel said. “This visit underscores the strong cooperation and incredible collaborative spirit between our elected officials, community leaders, and local partners throughout our region. It also reflects FIFA’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with host cities. We look forward to continuing our work together in the leadup to the tournament and beyond.”

Orlando is set to host six matches during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, including Juventus vs. Manchester City on June 26 and a Round of 16 matchup on June 30 at Camping World Stadium, followed by a highly anticipated quarterfinal on July 4. These matches reinforce Orlando’s pivotal role in bringing world-class soccer to fans and players from around the globe.
