A message from your Oscar Florida team: Stella Lehmann & Katy Eld
Small businesses fuel Seminole County's economy and anchor our neighborhoods.
These entrepreneurs are experts at innovation, but they face a common, uphill battle in the market: finding a way to offer competitive, high-quality health insurance without compromising their budgets. To bridge this gap, some states are recognizing the importance of ICHRAs by providing tax credits to small businesses, and we expect to see this momentum continue to build across the country.
What exactly is ICHRA?
ICHRA (which stands for Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement) allows businesses of any size to provide tax-free contributions to employees who then shop for the health plan that meets their unique needs on the individual market (ACA).
How does an ICHRA work?
Instead of offering a one-size-fits-all group plan, employers give employees tax-free contributions so employees can choose from hundreds of plans in the individual market to find the coverage that’s right for them and their families. Any employer with at least one eligible employee can offer an ICHRA.
Why is this good for the employee?
Traditional group health insurance forces a diverse workforce into a one-size-fits-all box. ICHRA flips the script, transforming employees from passive recipients of whatever plan their company chooses into empowered healthcare consumers.
Provider Choice: Employees select the coverage that keeps their trusted doctors and hospitals in-network.
Financial Fit: Employees can choose the exact level of coverage that matches their budget and health needs.
Life-Stage Flexibility: Employees can easily switch plans during open enrollment to adapt to what's happening in their life.
The bottom line: With ICHRA, employer contributions are tax-deductible, while employees get tax-free money and the freedom to spend it on the health coverage that works best for their life and their wallet.
A win-win.
