Seminole County Public Schools Announces Finalists for District Teacher of the Year

Sanford, FL: Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is proud to announce the three exceptional educators selected as finalists for the district’s prestigious 2026 Teacher of the Year award. These dedicated individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in education, inspiring their students, colleagues, and communities.
 
The finalists for the 2026 Teacher of the Year are:
 
• Elementary School Finalist: Bailey Hocker, Endeavor Elementary School
Ms. Hocker is celebrated for her innovative teaching strategies that foster a love of learning among her students. Her dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment has made a lasting impact on her school community.
 
• Middle School Finalist: Cynthia Hardy, Rock Lake Middle School
Ms. Hardy is known for her engaging approach to teaching, which motivates students to reach their full potential. Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom, and she is often found helping her administrative team, setting up for the science fair, and creating new connections for her class.
 
• High School Finalist: Stevie Place, Lake Howell High School
 
Ms. Place is a dynamic educator who inspires her students to excel academically and personally. Her ability to connect with students and encourage critical thinking has set her apart as a leader on her campus.

We are so proud to honor them as our grade-level finalists for Teacher of the Year.”
 
The SCPS Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Teacher of the Year Celebration, scheduled for January 28, 2025. The event will bring together educators, administrators, and community partners to celebrate the accomplishments of these remarkable professionals.
