Seminole State College Champions Career and Technical Education Month

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month—a dedicated time to highlight the vital role hands-on, career-focused education plays in preparing students for today’s workforce and tomorrow’s opportunities. Grounded in Seminole State College’s mission year-round, CTE programs connect classroom learning with real-world skills, industry credentials and clear pathways to meaningful careers.

Career and Technical Education programs at Seminole State are designed in close collaboration with local and regional employers, ensuring students graduate with relevant skills that align with workforce needs across Central Florida and beyond. From healthcare and information technology to public safety, manufacturing, construction and skilled trades, CTE programs provide practical, high-demand training that leads directly to employment, career advancement or further education.

“CTE programs empower students with the tools, confidence and experience they need to succeed,” said Dr. Georgia Lorenz, president of Seminole State College. “They also strengthen our community by building a skilled workforce that supports economic growth and innovation.”

This impactful approach to higher education and training can accelerate personal and professional success. With few or no barriers to enrollment and many career pathways to choose from, CTE offers a way for students to gain skills and earn certifications in some of Florida’s most critical and desirable industries. CTE programs can set individuals on the right path in less time with less cost.

Throughout CTE Month, Seminole State will host a series of community-focused events highlighting these programs, offering opportunities for prospective students, families, educators and employers to engage directly with faculty, students and industry partners.
