You've invited everyone over, planned a beautiful menu, and made sure everything is just right.
The guests arrive, the music is playing, and everyone is having a great time. Meanwhile, you're in the kitchen checking the oven, warming up another dish, refilling serving trays, and wondering if you've even had a chance to sit down.
With Halloween celebrations, Thanksgiving, and the holiday season approaching, here's something worth thinking about. You deserve to enjoy the party you're hosting, too!
The Art of Hosting Without Doing It All
Being a great host doesn't mean you have to personally prepare every dish or spend the entire evening making sure everything runs smoothly. Sometimes, the smartest thing you can do is plan ahead and allow yourself a little help.
Chef Shanna's Hosting Tips:
Prepare what you can ahead of time. Choose appetizers, sauces, and sides that can be prepared in advance. This leaves less to manage when your guests arrive.
A buffet, grazing table, or plated dinner can completely change the flow of your event. Choose a serving style that works for your guest count, space, and occasion. Don't overlook the little details.
Where will guests place their drinks? How will appetizers be served? Who will replenish the food? Thinking through these details beforehand helps everything run more smoothly.
And most importantly, give yourself permission to be a guest.
You planned the celebration. You invited the people. You deserve to enjoy their company.
