On the field, this year’s game will be the 46th Wildcats-Rattlers matchup to be played under the current “Florida Classic” brand and marks the 81st overall meeting between the schools, whose rivalry dates back to 1925. The Rattlers lead the all-time series 54-25-1; however, B-CU won last year's game 38-34 in front of 55,528 fans, bringing the series to a 14-14 draw since the game relocated to Orlando.
A downtown fixture since 1997, the Florida Blue Florida Classic drives nearly 60,000 spectators to the stadium and surrounding area each fall, with an estimated economic impact of $30 million annually. More than 1.6 million fans have attended The Classic since the game settled in Central Florida.
This year's contest will be played at an adjusted capacity as work continues on a $400 million renovation to Camping World Stadium. Set for completion next summer, the ongoing project will transform the venue with an upgraded upper seating bowl, expanded terrace level concourses with new amenities, a redesigned exterior, a multipurpose events center and more.
