Train with Purpose, Compete with Heart: USA Competitive Swim Team Launches Summer Season at the J. Douglas Williams YMCA

The J. Douglas Williams YMCA is inviting young athletes to dive into a summer of growth, discipline, and competition with its USA Competitive Swim Team. Designed for swimmers ages 6–17 who are ready to train with purpose, this program offers the opportunity to compete in USA Swimming-sanctioned meets while building lifelong skills in and out of the water.

Swimmers will refine stroke mechanics across all four competitive strokes—butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle—while improving endurance and mastering race strategies. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, athletes train in a supportive, team-oriented environment that emphasizes commitment, sportsmanship, and personal achievement.

Practice Schedule:
Monday–Friday | 6:00–7:30 PM

Registration Dues:
• Plus & Max Members: $150/month
• Base & Non-Members: $300/month
• Annual USA Swimming Fee: $40

Swim Assessment Required:
All participants must complete a swim assessment to demonstrate proficiency in the four competitive strokes. This evaluation ensures proper group placement and readiness for the program.

Level of Commitment:
Swimmers are expected to attend practice five days per week and participate in monthly USA Swimming meets throughout Central Florida.

Competition Pathway:
Additional USA Swimming registration steps are required for meet eligibility. Full details are available through your coach or online.

Registration Process:

  1. Schedule a Swim Assessment with Aquatics Supervisor Preslye Windisch (Pwindisch@cfymca.org)
  2. Attend a trial practice
  3. Register at the Front Desk

Join the team this summer and take your swimming to the next level—train with purpose and compete with heart at the YMCA.
