Valhallan ESports Is Featured in the Sanford Herald for Building Community Through Gaming

Dani Kelsey, owner of Valhallan ESports Training in Wekiva Springs, is making waves in the local community and the Sanford Herald took notice.

The Altamonte Springs-based gaming center was recently featured in the Sanford Herald's "Staying Connected with Spectrum" spotlight, highlighting how Valhallan is doing something most people don't expect from a gaming center: bringing kids and families together in person.

"It's not about the gaming. It's about everything that comes with it," said Kelsey, who opened Valhallan with a clear mission in mind, to create a safe, welcoming space where kids could connect face to face over something they love.

Valhallan ESports Training Wekiva Springs is part of a growing national franchise and serves kids ages 7 to 15, offering a parent-approved gaming environment with monitored gameplay and a full calendar of events including birthday parties, gamer nights, summer camps, weekly competitive training, and even a homeschool enrichment series. The center is home to around 21 PCs and multiple TVs running a variety of games simultaneously.  It’s all powered by reliable, high-speed internet.

The Sanford Herald feature also highlighted Valhallan's long-standing partnership with Spectrum Business, which has kept the center connected since day one, even during a five-day area-wide power outage. Kelsey credits that reliability as a cornerstone of the business.

As part of the feature, Spectrum representative Patrick Paterno introduced the company's upcoming "Invincible Wi-Fi" product.  This newest feature is a battery-powered solution capable of maintaining internet connectivity for up to eight hours during outages, supporting over 200 devices. For a business like Valhallan, where being online isn't optional, it's a game changer.

Beyond the games, Kelsey is focused on preparing the next generation for the tech-driven world around them. Situated near what she describes as a "high-tech corridor" stretching from Seminole County to UCF and the Space Coast, Valhallan is uniquely positioned to give kids hands-on technology experience, from competitive gaming to broadcasting and streaming skills.

"I wanted to create a space where we could still connect in person over these shared passions," Kelsey said. "Reaching folks and helping them understand the value of a community gaming center is what this is really about."
