This week, the annual legislative session began in Tallahassee.
For the next two months, our elected officials will be working on legislation to keep Florida as a top place to grow a business, to visit and to reside.
Your chamber was there this week, representing you and helping share the key issues important to our community.
It was part of the Florida Chamber of Commerce's annual trip to Tallahassee. Leaders from businesses and organizations across the state came together to hear from high-level leaders, like the entire Florida Cabinet, and have briefings on possible outcomes this session.
"One of the most important parts of this trip was being a part of the regional discussions being had with so many influential business people," said Rebkeah Arthur, president & CEO of Seminole County Chamber. "Having Seminole County represented is key to continuing to build on our success over the years."
One topic that kept coming up was that two months may not be enough this year and that we should look for one or two special sessions after this session ends in March.
Your chamber has a tremendous number of resources for anyone to use to help guide their governmental advocacy. You'll also find the issues our board believes are critical for the legislature to address.
