What Your Doctor Never Told You About Fracture Prevention

May is Osteoporosis Awareness Month, and bone health coach Vicky Countess is on a mission to change what women — and men — actually know about preventing fractures before it’s too late.
On Friday, May 22nd at 11:30 AM ET, Vicky Countess Coaching will host a free public workshop via Zoom titled “3 Things Your Doctor Never Told You About Fracture Prevention”.
The workshop is open to anyone who wants to take a proactive approach to bone health, whether they have received a diagnosis or not.

The Problem with Standard Guidelines
Current medical guidelines recommend that women receive their first DEXA scan — the standard bone density test — at age 65, and men at age 70.
But according to Countess, that timeline may already be too late.
“By 65, you may have already lost a significant amount of bone density — silently, with zero symptoms — and now you’re playing catch-up instead of getting ahead of it,” says Countess.
“A much smarter approach is to get a baseline DEXA scan around menopause. That gives you a real starting point, the ability to track changes over time, and — most importantly — time to actually do something about it while lifestyle changes can still make a real difference.”

What Participants Will Learn
The workshop will address three critical areas that are commonly overlooked in routine medical care:
Early bone density screening:
Why waiting until 65 may cost you years of preventive opportunity, and when to ask for a baseline test.
Nutrition essentials:
Food sources of calcium are the foundation — not supplements. Participants will also learn why calcium alone is not enough, and how Vitamin D and K2 are essential for calcium to reach bone tissue.
Exercise that actually builds bone:
Not all movement is equal. Walking supports cardiovascular health but is insufficient on its own for bone strength. Countess will explain how resistance training and impact-based exercise work, and how to approach them safely — even for those with already-low bone density.

Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to understand bone health before a diagnosis arrives, as well as those already managing osteopenia or osteoporosis. Men are equally welcome — a population Countess notes is frequently overlooked in the conversation around bone loss.
