Your Avon Man Returns from Washington, DC on Honor Flight

Your local Avon Man, Howie Appel has just completed the fourth part of his "journey" with Honor Flight Central Florida, Mission 34.

 

The first part was being interviewed by Charlotte Skipper of the Lake Mary Life Magazine for their upcoming issue which will be featuring him and his trip as part of the Honor Flight of Central Florida.

 

The second part was the orientation on May 10 which covered all that was to happen on the trip to Washington, DC including meeting Charlotte and his fellow veterans.  He also met his "Guardian", Army Veteran Mark Kechula.  He received his T-Shirt, Cap, Badge, and carry on bag.

 

The third part was the actual trip on May 17 to Washington, DC where he joined 120 others for an exciting day traveling to BWI Airport, visiting 4 memorials including the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns and the flight back to Sanford/Orlando Airport.  Wake up time was 4am and arrival time was 11:30 pm.  The group was met by a crowd of 300+.  To say the trip was beyond wonderful is a major understatement.

 

Finally, the fourth part was the Reunion on June 17th where the group received a thumb drive of the trip, a travel mug with their name, branch of service, and logo along with a group picture taken at the Tomb of the Unknowns.  

 

This was an exciting trip.  Many at the event were aware of his affiliation with the Chamber and he spoke with pride about being a Viet Nam Era Veteran.  Many already knew he was the local Avon man and they knew he was a member of the Seminole Chamber.    He thanks you for your support.
