As an Engage the Brain Learning Specialist, you will provide personalized academic intervention so that learners, with all types of learning abilities can think, learn, and grow.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Florida State Certification in Exceptional Student Education
At least three years of experience with learners with all types of learning abilities, including those with social/emotional challenges - Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Positive and supportive attitude with a passion for helping learners succeed
- Able to analyze and adjust lessons according to a learner’s needs
- Flexibility to gradually build your schedule, including at least two afternoons (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) a week
Responsibilities:
- Assess a learner’s academic strengths and weaknesses and design personalized learning plans
- Monitor and document a learner’s progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Communicate effectively with learners, parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding the learner’s progress, goals, and needs
- Utilize evidence-based interventions and strategies to address specific learning challenges and promote academic progress
- Participate in continued learning opportunities, such as professional development and team meetings
- Proven ability to design and implement individualized learning plans based on student needs. Ability to read and create lessons based on evaluations
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and the progression of skills and content taught depending on readiness
Preferred:
- Orton-Gillingham Trained
- Understanding of Structured Literacy and the Science of Reading
- Trained in multisensory math
- Understanding of cognitively guided instruction
- Understanding of explicit teaching strategies to teach writing and reading
- Ability to teach and support learners needing executive functioning assistance
- Experience working with students who have social/emotional challenges
About the position:
- Employee (w-2) position with opportunity for Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, Professional Development opportunities, and Simple IRA company contribution
- Hourly pay based on experience
- The schedule will build over time, with the goal of increasing to 25-30 student hours per week. Must be initially available to work at least two afternoons per week
